Free Channels
Search Engine Optimization

SEO or search engine optimization is a method of constructing your web pages in a way that search engines move your content to the top of search results. If you construct your page in a way that Search Engine's rank your results high you will have greater web traffic and exposure of your product.

Word of Mouth

Frequently talking about what you are doing to others is a great way to create buzz and raise awareness of your product. Creating buzz amongst your friends and associates will also create buzz amongst their friends and associates.

Social Networking

Sites like Facebook and Twitter extend your word of mouth capabilities to the electronic domain. Create a page that profiles your project and talk or post about it within your existing social network.

You Tube

Video is a no longer an inaccessible form of communication. Creating video of your product with a good marketing message can do wonders for product awareness.

Blogs

Blogging is another channel for marketing, in fact by completing this exercise and attracting traffic to your blog you will have your first marketing tool.

Paid Channels
AdWords

Google Adwords allows you to market to customers with specific messages. Pay by either the clicks or by the impression (number of times its viewed), adwords is completely customizable and automatically stops at predetermined monetary thresholds.

Email

We all hate spam but it is still king when it comes to marketing channels. There are many email marketing firms that will send your message to customers outside of your reach.


There are many other channels available and the more you add to your marketing plan, the greater the probability that you will be successful.

Tracking

Creating a tracking plan for each channel with a reliable tracking mechanism is very important. Without analytical data you can not be sure if a specific channel was successful. For our blogging example we will use Google Analytics to become familiar with tracking marketing channels.

Its free and its good! Graphical tracking of your customers with testing for specific channels and even customized campaigns for your site. Sign up for analytics and gain insight into the people who use your site.
